Hi Everyone, and welcome to my blog.

Let me start with a little bit about my travels. I often travel independently, but I’m also not averse to having some company. I enjoy getting off the beaten track, conversing with locals, wildlife watching and eating local cuisines. Sometimes my experiences may be controversial, such as cock-fighting in the Philippines, but I strive to look at different aspects of human culture from all angles, and gain insight from within the context in which they belong. I have travelled to almost 100 countries already, but this just means that I am not yet even half way to seeing the countries I plan to!

I believe travelling to be a personal thing, and with this in mind my blog does not intend to tell you where to go and what to see, but rather share my experiences and if it appeals to you then go for it! I do hope readers of this blog gain further insight to this wonderful world we live in, and perhaps are encouraged to go out and gain their own experiences, and challenge their own ideas about our world.

Next week I’m off to Belarus, Europe’s last dictatorship. I’ll be there for the annual Victory Day Parade, which consists of showcasing the military by having them march in unison along the streets of Minsk, whilst Belarusian flags are waved excitedly by the crowd. I’ll be sure to write my experiences.
